Glow Walk returns to New Boston

Glow Walk returns to New Boston

The 2026 Glow Walk New Boston is this Saturday and plans are underway to make it the biggest night in the history of the organization.

This year’s event is the 3rd annual Glow Walk, and organizers says it will be an evening of hope, remembrance, and celebration featuring local vendors, food, the Pie for a Purpose Live Pie Auction, cancer survivor recognition, the Butterfly Release, the Light of Love Memorial, raffles, and the Glow Walk.

Their motto, “Together, we’ll light up the night— because every story matters” is the calling card for all of the event volunteers and organizer Stephanie Hawkins.

Hawkins told the West Bowie Post that the Glow Walk has raised over $12,000 already this year, with all of the proceeds going back to local families that are battling cancer and have been impacted by the disease.

Monies raised also go to several local cancer foundations.

Hawkins says, “I do it because sometimes people get hit financially and they don’t know where to turn, and this relieves the burden. If the Glow Walk can help in any way, that is why we are here. Our community pulls together for those that are battling.

Every story matters. I just want people to know they are seen and there is hope.”

Hawkins adds that she knows sometimes people don’t know where to go for help, and Glow Walk helps people know where they can go.

“We are here for them and we can help them,” Hawkins notes.

Over 400 wrist bands have gone out already for this year’s event as teams are already working to raise funds and take part in the event.

The 2026 Glow Walk New Boston is this Saturday, September 19 and will include a host of events, plus vendors underneath the pavilion at Trail Head Park. The fun begins at 2 p.m. with a couple of hours to shop all of the local vendors. Then at 4 p.m., everyone will have some fun with the live pie auction, followed by a variety of drawings and raffles at 6 p.m.

All of that is followed by a special survivor recognition, the Battles of the Teams, the Battles of the Teas, a dance off and the event will close with the emotional memorial walk and the glow walk.
