A large crowd of visitors came to DeKalb this past weekend for the annual Oktoberfest festival. This year’s festival celebrated the 190th birthday of the city with a host of activities highlighted by the annual parade down Front Street and the variety show featuring a wide variety of musical talent from right here in DeKalb. The day also included fun for all ages like mutton bustin’ and games for the little ones and a street dance featuring the musical talents of DeKalb’s own Drake Hearron. The event also saw the return of Mr and Mrs Oktoberfest after a 30-year hiatus with Harper Sparkers named Miss Oktoberfest and Whitten McDaniel named Mr.
Oktoberfest. Tiny Miss is Gracelyn Page, Little Miss is Emma Kate McDaniel and Junior Miss is Journee Williams. Ainsley Walls was recognized for Highest ticket sales.
