The Community of Bethlehem and its Bethlehem Baptist Church is set to be recognized for its rich contributions to Bowie County and the State of Texas with an official designation by the Texas Historical Commission listing it as a Texas Historical Site. The official marker is scheduled to be placed by the THC sometime within the next year.
In this two-part series, we share how that designation came to be, but more importantly, the history of Bethlehem and the church that has remained its foundation for 157 years.
