Marshall attended Gravel Hill Baptist Church. He was a logger by trade and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting. Marshall will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and the time he spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Daffern; one sister, Winnie Lou Cooper; and a niece, Tonya Hanes.

He is survived by his brothers, James Lee Daffern and wife, Alma, of DeKalb, Texas, and William Barkley and wife, Sammie, of Little Elm, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Bates Family Funeral Home in DeKalb, Texas, with Deanie Lambert officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, at Bates Family Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas.
