JOYCE ELIZABETH HEGLER

Joyce Elizabeth Hegler, a cherished member of our community, passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 92. Her life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family, faith, and the people she loved. Born on May 10, 1934, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Avery Mack and Eva Shaw Gunter; her two sons, Kenny and Terry Dickens; and her husband of 31 years, Ray Neal Hegler.

She is survived by her brother, James Gunter (Jo), of Cypress, Texas; her stepdaughter, Robin Erwin (Kyle), of New Boston, Texas, her stepson, Tim Hegler (Becky), of Topeka, Kansas; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Dickens and Trina Dickens; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two nephews, a special friend Bonnie Larrow, and a number of other relatives and friends.

Joyce graduated from Hooks High School in 1951 and spent her entire life in Leary, Texas, where she was a devoted member of Leary Baptist Church. She also had a fulfilling long-term career at Lawyer’s Title in Texarkana.
