Rodney Ray Young, age 84, passed away on September 27, 2026, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He was born on January 21, 1942, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Horace Green Young and Della Marie Weaver Young.

Rodney was a dedicated electrician for Pilgrim’s Pride, where he worked until his retirement. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed cattle ranching, a passion that brought him much happiness throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Green Young and Della Marie Weaver Young; his brother, Ronny Young; and his wife, Linda Karen Young.

He is survived by his three children, Paula Young-Lawrence and her husband, Jerry Wayne, of Azle, Texas; Randy Young of Lydia, Texas; and Charles “Bud” Young of Henrietta, Texas; his grandchildren, Justin Ray Kuntz, Marissa Kuntz, Morgan Young McKenna and Kristy Young; and his two great-grandchildren, Addison McKenna and Aniya Perry.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home.

Services will be announced at a later date.

Rodney will be lovingly remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
