You’re here for a reason

Have you ever stopped to think about why you’re here?

Not just what you do, where you work, or what role you fill—but why did God put you here?

I remember being a little girl lying on my slide outside and looking up at the heavens and asking God this very question.

I certainly didn’t have the answer then. But even as a little girl, I think I understood that there had to be more

to life than just being born and dying. We were created for something.

When Jesus came to this earth, there was no question about His purpose. He knew exactly why He came.

He came on purpose and for a purpose.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” — Luke 19:10

When you look at the life of Jesus, He completely changed the world’s definition of greatness. He didn’t chase attention or need a title. He served. He washed feet. He met needs. He noticed people that everyone else seemed to overlook.

Jesus showed us that you don’t have to be the most talented, the most impressive, or the most followed to make a difference.

You just have to be willing.

And here’s what I love—the same God who sent Jesus with a purpose created you with a purpose too.

Psalm 139:13–14 tells us that God knit us together. That means you aren’t an accident. You aren’t an afterthought. God intentionally created you, and as our Creator He sees things in us that we can’t yet see in ourselves.

Just look at Gideon in Judges 6.

When God called Gideon, Gideon basically started giving God all the reasons He had the wrong guy. He didn’t feel qualified. He didn’t feel important. He certainly didn’t see himself as a mighty warrior.

But God did.

Gideon was looking at who he thought he was. God was looking at who He created Gideon to be.

I think we do the same thing. Really, I KNOW we do the same thing.

We question ourselves.

We compare ourselves to other people. We look at our mistakes, our failures, what we’ve accomplished—or haven’t accomplished—and decide we’re somehow not enough.

But those things don’t get the final word about who you are.

Your Creator does. The only one who can define you is the one who made you.

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Think about that for a minute.

You are God’s masterpiece.

You were custom built by God. He gave you your personality, your gifts, your experiences and opportunities—and He wants to use all of it for His Kingdom purpose.

And our purpose isn’t just about what we can accomplish for ourselves. Jesus showed us a different way. A life of purpose is a life that looks beyond ourselves and asks:

“God, how can You use me to make a difference in someone else’s life?”

Serving isn’t just a one-time act of kindness. It’s a way of living. It’s choosing to notice people. To meet needs. To encourage. To help. To point people toward Jesus.

You don’t need a title to lead. You don’t have to work at a church to lead.

You don’t need a platform to make a difference. And you certainly don’t have to prove your value to the world.

You just need to be willing to take action.

You were created on purpose.

And you were created for a purpose.

So don’t spend your life wondering if you matter. Start living like you know you do—and let God use your life to make a difference in DeKalb, Texas and beyond.
